Shepherd's Pie Recipe

Golden mashed potatoes on top, savoury goodness underneath!

Shepherd's Pie is the ultimate comfort food 
Ingredients:
🔸️450g ground lamb
🔸️1 onion
🔸️2 cloves garlic

🔸️1 large carrot
🔸️1 celery stalk
🔸️1/2 cup frozen peas

🔸️ 1 tbsp tomato paste

🔸️ 1 cup beef or lamb broth

🔸️ 2 tbsp sauce

🔸️ 1 tsp fresh thyme

🔸️ Salt and pepper

🔸️ 2 tbsp olive oil

🔸️ 900g potatoes

🔸️ 1/2 cup milk

🔸️ 4 tbsp butter

🔸️ 1/2 cup shredded cheese

Instructions:
🔸️ Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender.
🔸️ Drain and mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
🔸️ Add chopped onions, carrots, and celery, and sauté until softened.
🔸️ Add minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
🔸️ Add ground lamb and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
🔸️ Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and broth. Bring to a simmer and cook until the sauce thickens.
🔸️ Stir in frozen peas and cook for another 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
🔸️ Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
🔸️ Spread the meat filling evenly in a baking dish.

🔸️ Spoon the mashed potatoes over the meat, spreading them to cover the filling completely. If using, sprinkle shredded cheese on top

🔸️ Bake for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden and crispy

🔸️ Let the Shepherd’s Pie cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
